Homework
Most children will receive regular homework. Homework varies according to the age and ability of each child but is likely to include bringing reading books home to read, learning spellings and learning times tables. At other times specific pieces of work will be set. The children will be told clearly when those pieces of work need to be returned to school.

Homework is an essential part of the planned programme of work for the children. We hope all parents and carers will support the school and help their children by encouraging them in their homework and helping as and when necessary. In Y6 homework is also seen as a preparation for secondary education.

At New Pasture Lane Primary School, we believe that a strong partnership between parents and the school is essential to support every child’s learning and personal development. We actively encourage parents to be engaged partners in their child’s education through regular communication, involvement in school activities, and collaboration with staff. Our Parent Code of Conduct reflects our commitment to fostering a respectful and positive environment for all members of our school community. It outlines our expectations for respectful behaviour, constructive communication, and mutual support, ensuring that all interactions between parents, staff, and pupils are conducted with kindness, understanding, and professionalism. Together, we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where every child can thrive and “shine” as outlined in our school vision.
